Number of teeth in dogs

How many teeth do dogs have?

42

Not too many people know that there are basically baby or deciduous teeth at dogs (which appear when they reach almost 5 to 6 weeks) as well as adult teeth in a dog’s mouth which are quite similar to human.  Did you know that a puppy of 8 weeks old has 28 baby teeth or deciduous teeth?  On the other hand, adult dogs have 42 teeth.  These teeth obviously replace the baby teeth.  It is interesting to know that dogs have 3 molars on mandible (lower jaw) and 2 molars on maxilla (upper jaw).
