Number of rRNA genes

How many rRNA genes are there?

2 major rRNA genes

Not too many people know that ribosomal ribonucleic acid (rRNA) is the RNA component of the ribosome.  rRna is vital for protein synthesis in all living organisms. It is interesting to know that it comprises the predominant material within the ribosome, which is 60% rRNA and 40% protein by weight.  Moreover, it is imperative to know that ribosomes contain two major rRNAs and 50 or more proteins.  Believe it or not, rRNA sequences are found in all known forms of life.
