Number of Lobes in Lungs

How many lobes are there in lungs?

5.

As Thomas W. Shields describes on his book “General Thoracic Surgery”, the right lung ‘“ which is larger than the left lung ‘“ contains 3 lobes: upper, middle and lower. The left lung contains only 2 lobes: upper and lower. In addition to these 5 lobes, 3 accessory lobes may occur due to accessory fissures in the left lung: posterior, inferior and middle.
