How many leprosy victims are there?

2-3 million people

Who has not heard of Leprosy?  Well, Leprosy is also known as Hansen’s disease.  Leprosy comes from the Latin word Lepra.  Not too many people know that Leprosy has affected humanity for over 4,000 years and was recognized in the civilizations of ancient China, Egypt and India.  In 1995, according to the World Health Organization (WHO) report, it was estimated that between 2 and 3 million people were permanently disabled because of leprosy at that time.  Moreover, in the past 20 years, 15 million people worldwide have been cured of leprosy.
