How many legs are there on an ant?

6

Ants have 6 legs.  The main idea is that all six legs are attached to the mesosoma (“thorax”).  Not too many people know that ants have a hooked claw at the end of each leg.  This claw has an important role.  It helps ants to climb and to hang onto surfaces.  The metasoma, which represents the abdomen of the ant, houses important internal organs, including those of the reproductive, respiratory and excretory systems.  It is interesting to know that only reproductive ants, queens and males, have wings.
