The chemical compound NaCl ‘â€œ sodium chloride or common salt ‘â€œ is composed by two ions. The first one, Sodium (Na+), is a simple cation: an ion with a positive charge due to 1 more proton than total amount of electrons. The second, Chloride (Cl-), is a simple anion: an ion with a negative charge due to 1 more electron than the total amount of protons.
