How many IEEE societies are there?

Not too many people know that IEEE stands for the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.  IEEE is a professional association headquartered in New York City that is dedicated to advancing technological innovation and excellence.  Believe it or not, IEEE has about 425,000 members in about 160 countries.  There are 38 IEEE societies.  IEEE was founded in 1963.  It is interesting to know that IEEE produces over 30% of the world’s literature in the electrical and electronics engineering and computer science fields.
