How many vertebrae are there in humans?
33 human vertebrae
Humans normally have 33 vertebrae, including the five that form the sacrum, the four coccygeal bones that form the tailbone. The upper regions are composed of the vertebral groups called cervical, thoracic and lumbar, which have seven, twelve and five vertebrae respectively. The numbers may change in one region or the other, but the total number remains the same.
