How many strains does a Human Papilloma Virus have?

HPV or known as the “Human Papilloma Virus” has more than 100 different strains, but not all of these strains cause cancer. They are classified as high and low HPV risk strains that affect an individual person. A low risk strain causes genital warts and mild cervical irregularities and does not cause cancer. A high risk strain, on one hand, can cause both mild and severe cervical irregularities found in a Pap Smear test. They could develop into a cancer cells if left untreated for several years.
