How many hereditary peers are there in the House of Lords?

92

It is important to know that the House of Lords is the upper house of the Parliament of the United Kingdom.  It is true that membership was once a birthright of hereditary peers.  The situation is different these days.  It is interesting to know that 92 members still sit by virtue of a hereditary peerage.  Keep in mind that since the vast majority of hereditary peerages can only be inherited by males, only one of these 92 is currently a woman.  It is important to know that most new members of the House of Lords are appointed.
