How many detainees still remain at Guantanamo Bay?
245 detainees
According to the site, GlobalSecurity.org, approximately 245 detainees remained imprisoned at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba as of January 17, 2009. In January 22, 2009, President Obama ordered the closure of the detention area and the case-by-case review of detainees still held at the facility. Obama has also ordered the Central Intelligence Agency to refrain from secretly holding detainees in other countries and to follow interrogations standards outlined by the US Army.
