Number of Feet In a Mile
How many feet are there in a mile?
In 1592 the British Parliament enacted an Act that defined the mile to be equal to 1,760 yards or 5,280 feet. Because of this the mile is also known as the statute mile. Other old measurements of a mile include the Old English mile which is equivalent to 1.3 statute miles, the Scots mile which is 1.12 statute miles, the Irish mile equivalent to 1.27 statute miles, and the nautical mile which is 1.15 statute miles.
