How many ependymal cells are there?

Not known

It is important to know that ependyma is the thin epithelium-like lining of the ventricular system of the brain and the spinal cord.  Needless to say, the ependyma is made up of ependymal cells.  These cells may be present in cases of hydrocephalus or chronic ventricular infection.  Anyway, the exact number of ependymal cells is not known.  These cells usually appear as very large multinucleated clumps.  It is interesting to know that ependymal cells both secrete cerebrospinal fluid and absorb it.
