A domestic hen starts laying eggs at about 18 to 20 weeks in a year”>weeks old, with a maximum of one egg lain each day until she completes a full clutch of about 12 eggs. A hen will continue to lay eggs up to about 2 or 3 years old. In her lifetime, a hen may lay 240 to 320 eggs. In commercial farms, some hens can produce over 300 eggs in a single year.
