How many czars were in the Bush administration?
Not too many people know that the informal political term “czar” or “tsar” is employed in media and popular usage to refer to high-level officials who oversee a particular policy. For example, there were 33 czars in the Bush administration, 38 in Obama administration, 8 in Clinton administration, one in Reagan administration, 2 in Carter administration, 2 in Ford administration, 3 in Nixon administration, 3 in Johnson administration. It is interesting to know that the earliest known use of the term for a U.S. government official was in the administration of Franklin Roosevelt.
