Number of bumble bee species

How many bumble bee species are there?

250

There are over 250 bumble bee species all over the world.  Keep in mind that bumblebees are social insects that are characterized by black and yellow body hairs, often in bands. It is interesting to know that some species have orange or red on their bodies, or, on the contrary, they may be entirely black.  Bumblebees are typically found in higher latitudes.  Everyone knows that bumblebees generally visit flowers that exhibit the bee pollination syndrome.  Not too many people know that bumblebees are important pollinators of both crops and wildflowers.
