How many arrests have there been for drug related crimes?

There are more and more arrests for drug related crimes in the United States of America.  For example, in 2012 there were 1552432 arrests for drug related crimes.  Needless to say, it is important to know that 82.2% of the cases, meaning 1,276,099 arrests were for possession of a controlled substance.  Keep in mind that only 17.8% (276,333 arrests) were for the sale or manufacturing of a drug.  It is interesting to know the fact that in 2011, of the 1,531,251 arrests for drug law violations in 2011, 81.8% (1,252,563) were for possession of a controlled substance.
