How many annual shark attacks are there?

100 every year

It is widely known the fact that a shark attack is an attack on a human by a shark.  Statistics show that every year around 100 shark attacks are reported worldwide.  Moreover, 17 fatalities were recorded as having being caused by shark attacks in 2011.  Needless to say, in 2011 there were recorded 118 attacks.  It is interesting to know that according to the International Shark Attack File (ISAF), between 1580 and 2011 there were 2,463 confirmed unprovoked shark attacks around the world.  Believe it or not, 471 were fatal.
