How many blocks are there in a mile?
According to the 1998’â„¢s edition of the “Transit Fact Book”, published by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), in the US there is an average of 10 city blocks per mile. Nevertheless, this number varies substantially depending on the city and the city region. In Philadelphia, for instance, there are 13 blocks in a mile, whereas in Chicago this number goes down to 8 blocks per mile.
