How many quills are there on average on a porcupine?

More than 30000

Not too many people know the fact that a porcupine has in average more than 30000 quills.  Keep in mind that porcupines have soft hair, but on their back, sides, and tail, it is usually mixed with sharp quills.  It is widely known the fact that quills have sharp tips.  Believe it or not, porcupines grow new quills to replace the ones they lose.  These animals eat natural bark and stems.  It is interesting to know that female porcupines have between one and four young, depending on the species.
